Update

COVID-19

Kate and Drew are excited to celebrate their marriage with everyone on February 5, 2022 after wedding in an intimate setting on February 20, 2021. They want to ensure the safety of all vendors and guests, so prior to attending any 2022 festivities, please have a negative COVID-19 test (rapid or PCR). Any additional measures will be shared on this site or via email closer to the date. Thank you!

The "Meet-Cute"

Redeemer Presbyterian Church

Kate and Drew both love remembering things, but unfortunately, neither remembers their first "official meet." In Winter 2015, Drew joined a Community Group that was somewhat of a brother group to Kate's. Soon after joining, Drew went skiing with some of the people from Redeemer. Kate was on that trip too, but no meeting or chatting occurred. (Maybe, they were too focused on the slopes?!) That spring, though, Drew found himself getting invited to rooftop parties that Kate co-hosted with her roommate Erica. One thing led to another; they kept finding themselves in similar circles through this community.

The First Date

Land Thai

In Spring 2016, Kate and Drew were both traveling in the Bay Area. They texted the whole time and even tried to meet up. Little did Kate know, Drew had been scheming (or gathering up courage) to ask her out after a friend suggested it back in the fall. They didn't meet, so upon returning to the city, Drew called to ask Kate out. She was babysitting so sent the call to voicemail (she still has it!) completely unaware of Drew's intentions. Later that week, Kate called back, and they made plans to meet for dinner and "talk about SF." Land Thai was for dinner, and Insomnia Cookies for dessert. The conversation was jovial, Drew finished his meal in record pace, and Kate says she didn't know it was a date. Upon returning home, Erica said, "If he paid, it's a date!"

The Proposal

Central Park

Fast forwarding to Spring 2020 (and skipping over the breakup, some time apart for the Lord to work, and fresh start with "Round 2"), Kate and Drew were getting pretty serious. They'd done preliminary ring shopping. Drew had spoken with Kate's father, and Kate had an idea the proposal could be coming. Enter COVID-19. Kate and Drew decided to head to Raleigh to quarantine for Drew's siblings' weddings that were set for May. Drew didn't want to leave without proposing, so, with the help of some friends, he quickly made a new plan. On the eve of their trip, Drew walked Kate from her apartment to a "special spot" in (a now empty) Central Park and shared some sweet words. He gave Kate the final "happy" of the gifts that spelled P-R-O-P-O-S-A-L. Drew prayed, took out the ring, and got down on a knee. She said, "YES!"
